Beach trip

We had the best time at Orange Beach this past week! We left on Wednesday and didn't want to come back:) I kept expecting the beaches and the water to be so covered in oil but instead they were perfect! You could see some patches of sheen from the oil but other than that it was great. They did ban everyone from fishing, boating, or getting in the water so that part was hard! There were barely any people down at the beach because of the story of how much oil is everywhere but if you are planning a trip you should go!
Emmalyn could care less about the beach, she was spending time with all of her family! My side and Wilkins side all came down for her first trip! And thanks to her Mimi and Go-Daddy and Uncles Trent and Grant for a great job babysitting so that W and I could spend time at the pool and beach. On Thursday and Friday, she had her Gramie and Grandaddy and her aunts (Sherri and Tiffany) then both of my dads sisters (Irene and Julie) and their girls (Emma and Gabrielle) spend all day with her. Nana Sue also came to visit as well! Emmalyn was passed around more than a football at the Superbowl!
She did get in the pool at the condo and didn't want to get out, soo cute! We got her the smallest bathing suits and she rocked them!!! She finally fits into all of her newborn dresses so I kept changing her clothes every couple of hours, lol! Then I had to take a picture of every outfit, like this yellow dress she wore down there!
While we were there, Phil showed me a baby picture of Wilkins and Emmalyn looks exactly like him...crazy huh!

Friday night Wilkins and I got to go out on our first post-baby real date. It was so nice. We went to dinner at my favorite spot Tacky Jacks (and yes, for the tenth time, I know that is where the President went). We also coincidentally bought the same shirt Obama did! Afterwards, we went to Florabama and danced! It was the best night and well needed!!! However, most of our conversations revolved around Emmalyn- couldn't help it:)
Sunday was so nice being Wilkins first Father's Day. I took him to brunch at the Hangout then we made the long drive home bringing Grant with us (he has soccer camp this week). That night we cooked out and tried to make the best of the day! Happy Father's day to all the dads and granddads!!!

I start working again this week, so this vacation was not long enough. I can't believe I have to leave my sweet baby at home! Even though my job is here and there days it is still sad:(

Here is a picture of the beach from our balcony that shows how pretty the beaches really are!

Hope everyone is doing well. Love ya

Camera Broke

Sorry that I have not written in a week or so! However, as most of you know I am terrible with electronics and the camera broke. This time it was not my fault- it was the camera! So we got another one this week and just took some quick shots of her so everyone can see how big she has gotten. She will be two months old tomorrow...I can't believe it!
Last night was her first night to sleep in her own room. That was the hardest thing I have had to do yet! I was so stressed out even though I know she was just sleeping.
She is so more alert now and likes to stay up for most of the day. It is hard to get things done but I like getting to sleep through the night so I will take it!
I went to work for the first time this past week. It was so hard leaving my baby even though it is only two days a week. My grandparents kept her the first day. She adores them and never seems to cry when they are around- I guess cause they are veterans at this! Mrs. Dee kept her the next, and Emmalyn slept the whole day, which is better than crying:) She loves all of her grandparents and I am so thankful to have ya'll.
This week we are going to Orange Beach for vacation. It'll be her first time and of course there is the oil spill...so, it should be a memorable one! Hopefully we can get one picture of her in the sand without the oil. I will make sure to update as soon as we get back. Love ya

8lbs 4ozs

We took Emmalyn to the doctor today for her 6 week check-up and shots. She now weighs 8lbs and 4ozs (20 inches long). She is growing so fast and changing everyday. She had her first round of shots- not fun by the way- and is hating the nurse about now! I held up this time, no crying at the office until we got in the car and I saw her sad face. At least I get to comfort her which is brownie points for us parents!!! The doctor told us today that she will get shots for her next 6 appts.- I don't know if I can handle this. Her next appointment is in 2 monthes, so be praying for me to survive that:) Love ya

Our Trip to Mobile

Emmalyn went on her first road trip to Mobile. Just the two of us went for the week, without Wilkins and of course he was not happy about it. Although taking a ride that long with a 5 week old baby by yourself is a whole other kind of worry. If I wasn't breaking my neck to look at her I was making pit stops to check on her!
We had a great time hanging out with the family. My mom never wants to give her up which causes problems with everyone else who wants to hold her. I guess everyone was right about how people change when it comes to their grandkids!
The reason we went to Mobile was because of my grandfather having a Heart Cathe done on Monday. He ended up having 80% blockage so they gave him a heart stint and made him stay overnight. I think he enjoyed having Emmalyn at the hospital though because it took some of the attention off him and everyone loves a baby in scary situations:) He is doing alot better. Thank you to everyone for your thoughts and prayers!

My sisters and I spent as much time as possible together with Tiffany leaving in July for boot camp and Sherri working on the oil spill crisis for the Guard. So we took Emmalyn to the mall, after the hospital stay, to walk around. I am amazed at how many people are out shopping on a Monday afternoon- does anyone work anymore?
My favorite store at the mall is the Disney Store. I bought Emmalyn all the princess books, princess dolls and toys, princess globe, and princess bags- I think she is a princess so it fits!!!
I think Wilkins is going to end up taking my card away when it comes to Emmy because I want her to have everything:) She just looks so cute I can't help it!

On Tuesday I took her to Fairhope to spend time with my friend Lane and her daughter Savannah. It was so cute watching Savannah, 7, want to play with Emmy- but all my child did was sleep, lol. We also went and saw her Mimi and Grant while we were there. It was nice spending time with Theresa because she hasn't really seen E since the day she was born and it was Uncle Grants first time seeing her!

On Wednesday, my mom invited everyone in her phonebook to come over to the house and meet Emmy. It was great spending time with people I haven't seen in awhile and them gushing over my baby. Lindsey and Brandon came and I think after the wedding you guys should just go ahead and have babies!!!
We finally left on Thursday because Wilkins could not take both of his girls being gone that long! I think E missed him too because when we got home she just stared at him for the rest of the night. Although, she needs to get used to being on the go because that is the way her momma likes it!!! It is nice being home this week to recharge but I am already planning our next trip- maybe the beach:)
Just in one week I am astonished at how much her facial features have changed. She looks more and more like her daddy- which is nice, but is also kind of depressing when you carry this child for nine months and she doesn't look like you. So maybe she will have my personality or drive in life...I guess we will see.
Hope everyone had a great Memorial Day! Love you all
